Tasty Tuesday {seriously slurp-worthy soup}

This looks absolutely DELICIOUS. Luckily heading to Earth Origins tomorrow for some groceries. Looks like I have a few more items to add to the list!

Winter is coming. This weekend apparently. It is supposed to be soup weather in Sydney. Instead, today it is going to be 28*C {82*F}. I love me some sunshine, but that is a little crazy!

I wanted something souper {see what I did there?} easy to make for the first few days of this week. I’m doing a bit of a cleanse after a week {or 3} of eating my feelings. As with a lot of things we make, this was a matter of which vegetables do we have that I can throw in a pot.

What do I need?
1 tin organic diced tomatoes
1 tin organic lentils
1 tin organic four bean mix
2 smallish sweet potatoes
2 purple sweet potatoes
1 good sized parsnip
3 cloves garlic
Half an onion {I only had a red one handy, any onion will do!}
1 tablespoon tahini
1.5 litres stock {I used Massel…

Trying to be punny

Standard

I love puns. Sue me.

As I was running the register at Winn Dixie, it’s really slow and I’m scanning a customers items. We made casual light-hearted conversation as she’s putting all of her items up for me to scan. I notice she sat a bottle of squeezable jelly on the belt. I used to have that stuff all the time when I was young.

Then the pun hits me. Should I say it? Should I keep quiet? I want my pun to be heard by the world. I find it hilarious but will they? The jelly is starting to make it’s way for me to pick it up and scan. Finally I decided, for those like me, I will represent my people and be funny as hell.

I ask “Do you like puns?” And she turns to me and looks confused and goes “What?” This is my moment. My time.

I hold up the jelly and say “This used to be my jam.”

An awkward silence falls for a moment and then she gives off a short laugh. Needless to say, I scanned the rest of her items in silence.

I thought it was funny as hell you little sh

And so it’s begun

Standard

Heyo!

So I work at Winn-Dixie, and I was checking someone out at the service counter. He had a Starbucks coffee energy drink that I remember I used to drink but since I became a Vegetarian about a week ago I don’t drink them anymore. I said to the man “I used to drink these all the time.” And so he asked why I don’t anymore and I told him I became Vegetarian and hope to become Vegan once I get used to the lifestyle.

And then the question. The question I’m sure every Vegetarian is to experience. “Well where do you get your protein?” sigh…

Of course being in Customer Service I had to watch what I say. I had to shrug it off and tell him I watch my vitamin intake closely (Even though Protein has never been an issue) and left the conversation at that.

I suppose in a way this can be a bit of a lesson. We have to remember that the majority of people are not Vegetarian and don’t understand how we handle our nutritional value most of the time. And that’s (for some weird reason) is a question that will always pop up and we can’t expect everyone to know everything about being Vegetarian or Vegan. As frustrating as it can be for us with answering these questions all of the time, we do need to show patience and kindly explain why we do what we do.

But if they turn into an ass-hat after then it’s all hell and fire at that point.

Are you a Vegetarian and have had these experiences? If so then leave a comment about your story!

If not, leave a comment anyway, it’ll make my day.

Introductions Are In Order

Standard

Heyo! It’s nice to meet all of you (As far as one can meet through a computer screen that is) I’m super excited to start my blogging finally. I’ve been wanting to do this for as long as I can remember! I suppose I will start out with what this blog will actually be about. It’s just a simple blog, nothing special, nothing fancy. Just somewhere to write my thoughts and opinions on in today’s world and to include you wonderful people into my life. Kind of boring, I know, but hopefully it’s entertaining to some. I look forward to future blog posts and to hopefully meet new people in the process!
